BESS began as a fine jewelry line in the year 2000. Designed and crafted in New York City by Douglas Abraham. The first BESS Jewelry shop was established in 2002 on east seventh street. In 2006, the growing boutique relocated to Keith Haring's historic former Pop Shop at 292 Lafayette street in Soho. The offerings offered at the 292 Lafayette space expanded to include the designers collection of victorian apparel, antique dolls and ephemera as well as 1980's vintage punk studded leather clothing and footwear. In 2008 BESS established it's apparel brand offered at the BESS NYC boutique in conjunction with BESS jewelry and accessories. Forever inspired by shredded silk, industrial metal, dusty lace, and worn-out leather, a trip to BESS in New York City is a journey from the 19th century romantic to the post-punk to goth-grunge BESS experience.
